Senior Accountant - Cambridge, MA
Our client, a mission-driven organization in the nonprofit sector, is seeking a Senior Accountant to support audit preparation and tax reporting efforts during a critical period in the fiscal calendar. This role will focus on supporting the annual audit, compiling data for IRS Form 990 filings, and managing general accounting functions to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare schedules and documentation for the annual audit and serve as liaison with auditors
- Support the coordination and review of IRS Form 990 and related state filings
- Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and assist with month-end close
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and documentation for regulatory purposes
- Contribute to the implementation of audit recommendations and process improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA-track preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including nonprofit sector exposure
- Proficiency in Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Blackbaud
