They are seeking an experienced and motivated Accounting Manager to join their team and oversee the company's day-to-day accounting functions.


Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. This role requires a degreed accounting professional with prior management experience and a solid background in real estate accounting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and capable of leading a small team while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in all financial processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Manage and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Review property-level financials and assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.

  • Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax preparers, and other financial partners.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

  • Supervise, mentor, and support accounting staff to ensure accuracy and professional growth.

  • Assist management with financial forecasting, cash flow analysis, and strategic planning initiatives.

  • Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the accounting department.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

  • Real estate industry experience preferred (property management, commercial or residential portfolios, development, or construction accounting).

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

  • Proficiency with Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or similar real estate accounting software highly desirable.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial systems and reporting tools.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
