They are seeking an experienced and motivated Accounting Manager to join their team and oversee the company's day-to-day accounting functions.
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. This role requires a degreed accounting professional with prior management experience and a solid background in real estate accounting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and capable of leading a small team while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in all financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
Manage and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Prepare journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Review property-level financials and assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax preparers, and other financial partners.
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Supervise, mentor, and support accounting staff to ensure accuracy and professional growth.
Assist management with financial forecasting, cash flow analysis, and strategic planning initiatives.
Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the accounting department.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Real estate industry experience preferred (property management, commercial or residential portfolios, development, or construction accounting).
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
Proficiency with Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, or similar real estate accounting software highly desirable.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial systems and reporting tools.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
