Category Manager - Contract to Hire

This is a contract-to-hire position, with occasional on-site work required near Appleton, WI, or Minneapolis, MN. If you have a proven track record in contract management, supplier negotiations, and strategic procurement, we encourage you to apply!

We are seeking a Category Manager with strong expertise in contract management, redlining agreements, and RFP processes to join our procurement team. This role will focus on sourcing and negotiating professional services contracts, particularly in facilities and construction, while also supporting other procurement areas such as IT and professional services. The ideal candidate will have experience working with vendor contracts, negotiating terms and conditions, and managing RFP/RFI processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contract Negotiation & Redlining - Lead contract negotiations, review vendor agreements, and redline contract terms to align with company requirements.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Procurement - Develop sourcing strategies, issue RFPs and RFIs, evaluate supplier proposals, and lead supplier selection processes.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration - Work cross-functionally with legal, business units, and external vendors to manage procurement processes effectively.
  • Category Management - Support various indirect spend categories, with a focus on facilities and construction procurement, while also being flexible to assist in IT and other business areas.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management - Utilize contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools, including Icertis, to track and manage agreements and ensure compliance.
  • Financial & Risk Management - Assess total cost of ownership, mitigate risks in vendor agreements, and support ongoing contract governance.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 5+ years of procurement experience with a focus on contract management and strategic sourcing.
  • Strong background in contract negotiation, redlining vendor agreements, and handling RFP/RFI processes.
  • Experience in facilities and construction procurement preferred, with the ability to support other categories such as IT and professional services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word (contract redlining), Excel (RFP analysis), and procurement systems such as Icertis and PeopleSoft.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and project management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Leads the strategic sourcing process including defining sourcing strategy, developing requests for solicitation from vendors, negotiating contracts, drafting contract language and facilitating post contract vendor relationship management in the selection and management of organizations Suppliers
Develop and maintain technical and business expertise in the assigned spend category(s) or functional area supported
Responsible for driving ongoing productivity improvements in the spend category
Responsible for developing, implementing and managing the requisition, purchase order and fulfillment processes within the assigned spend category
Coach and provide consultation to clients, resolve vendor disputes and drive procurement best practices across all divisions/departments/business units for assigned category
Responsible for monitoring and managing optimal internal client satisfaction while mitigating risk assumed by the organization
Uphold internal and external policies, regulations and laws
One category manager will hold the organization's corporate real estate license and will need to uphold clients real estate leasing policies and comply with all related real estate regulations and laws.

Required Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a business discipline or a technical discipline related to the category or function supported or significant procurement or business job experience required
Successful, multi-year track record in procurement activities or similar business experience required
C.P.M. (Certified Purchasing Manager), CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or other Procurement Professional certification, education, or training required
