Job Title: Category Manager
Type: 3-Month Contract (Potential for Temp-to-Hire)
Location: Remote or Hybrid (Preference for Madison, WI)
Schedule: Open to Part-Time or Full-Time

Overview:
We are looking for a seasoned Category Manager to join our team on a short-term contract basis (with potential for extension or temp-to-hire) to accelerate a variety of IT-related sourcing and procurement initiatives. This role will focus on executing strategic sourcing plans, negotiating IT vendor contracts, and driving value through category management best practices. If you are a self-starter with a background in IT procurement, contract negotiation, and stakeholder management, we'd love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
Lead and execute category management strategies for IT and related indirect spend categories
Collaborate with business stakeholders to clarify value expectations and priorities
Develop and run RFx processes, negotiate contracts, and drive cost savings initiatives
Analyze vendor proposals and market trends to inform sourcing decisions
Maintain and communicate category charters, targets, and progress reports
Manage multiple projects simultaneously and respond to changing priorities with agility
Support policy adherence and process improvements within the procurement function
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management
Proven experience negotiating complex IT contracts (software, hardware, services)
Strong knowledge of RFx processes and supplier selection strategies
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels
Ability to work autonomously and make decisions with limited direction
Comfortable with fast-paced environments and shifting priorities
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience using procurement systems or tools (e.g., Ariba, Coupa, Icertis) a plus
