Overview

The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the organization's comprehensive accounting function and ensuring financial reporting is accurate, timely, and consistent with applicable standards. This leader partners closely with senior executives, manages multi-entity consolidation activities, and guides a high-performing accounting team through growth and evolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all accounting operations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards and internal financial policies
  • Oversee consolidation of multi-entity or global operations, including intercompany activity, transfer pricing considerations, and foreign currency impacts
  • Review and prepare internal and external financial reporting packages
  • Serve as a primary liaison for external partners, including auditors, advisors, and financial stakeholders
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and financial due‑diligence activities
  • Develop and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, and operational processes
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with finance, tax, legal, and operational teams on major initiatives
  • Lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals, promoting a culture of high performance and accountability
  • Act as a trusted advisor while championing team development and operational excellence

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance (CPA highly preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles
  • Experience with multi-entity or international consolidation preferred
  • Background in fast‑paced, complex, or investment‑backed environments a plus
  • Strong technical accounting skills paired with sound business judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues to non‑finance audiences
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change and organizational growth
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
