Beacon Hill Legal is seeking a Patent Prosecution Legal Secretary in Chicago to join a nationally recognized law firm. This is a full time, non-exempt position, full benefits, and competitive compensation (ranging from $70K- $95K)
Required Skills and Job Duties include the following:
- 2+ years of experience as a legal assistant or secretary, in patent prosecution or intellectual property law.
- Demonstrate and apply in-depth knowledge of patent filing and prosecution practices in the USPTO, PCT, and major jurisdictions worldwide.
- Compose correspondence to attorneys and clients regarding all aspects of patent prosecution.
- Review and process incoming correspondence from USPTO, WIPO, and foreign associates.
- Communicate with clients, foreign associates, and government agencies regarding prosecution matters.
- Perform administrative duties including document management, electronic filings, time entry, billing, and file maintenance.
- Monitor case status, track filing receipts, and update internal databases and docketing systems.
- Proofread and edit documents for accuracy, format, and compliance with firm and USPTO requirements.
- Provide general administrative support to attorneys and paralegals as needed.
