Sr. Software QA Analyst - Manual
Position Summary
The Senior Software Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst champions software quality across the development lifecycle. In this role, responsibilities include assisting in leading testing efforts, designing robust test strategies, and collaborating closely with developers, BSA's, Product Owners, and Test Engineering Team. This position also includes test planning, defect analysis, and identifying risks proactively. In addition, the Senior Software QA Analyst serves as a quality advocate, a mentor to other testers, and a strategic partner in driving continuous improvement in our testing practices.
Responsibilities
- Test Strategy and Design
- Develop comprehensive test plans and scenarios based on system specifications and business requirements.
- Ensure test coverage aligns with business goals, risk profiles, and compliance requirements.
- Advocate for quality throughout the SDLC, identifying opportunities for process improvement and early defect prevention.
- Think creatively and brainstorm suggestions for developing, releasing, and maintenance of test procedures
- Develop through opportunities presented in regression testing, ETL testing, browser testing, performance testing, capacity and stress testing, resiliency testing, environment management services, and infrastructure testing.
- Test Planning and Execution
- Develop and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, and test data for functional, integration, and user acceptance testing.
- Coordinate and support UAT efforts with business stakeholders.
- Analyze test results and provide actionable feedback to development teams.
- Defect Management and Reporting
- Investigate and document defects with clarity and precision.
- Track and report quality metrics, trends, and risks to project stakeholders.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and post-release reviews.
- Collaboration and Influence
- Partner with Automation to align manual and automation efforts.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, and business analysts to clarify requirements and define acceptance criteria.
- Act as a mentor and resource for other QA team members, promoting best practices and professional growth.
- Participate in Quarterly Planning, Daily Stand-up, Review and Retrospective meetings.
- Be a positive influence for other team members; promote goodwill amongst IT and other
departments of the organization.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Experience in manual testing across web, API, and data layers
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Understanding of smoke testing, black-box, and non-black box testing, as well as regression testing. Performance testing, end to end integration testing, UAT, functional testing.
- Experience with front-end & backend testing
- Exposure to automation concepts and ability to collaborate effectively with automation engineers
Preferred Proficiencies:
- Test management and defect tracking tools: TestRail, Zephyr, etc.
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions, GitLab Pipelines, Jenkins
- Systems: Jira, Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA), OnBase, Eloquence
Education Requirements
Min/Preferred Education Level Description
Preferred 4 Year / Bachelors Degree Bachelor's degree in Computer Science,
Information Technology/Systems, or other related field preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of five years of experience in software quality assurance is required.
Experience working in insurance, financial services or other regulated industry preferred.
