Job Title: AS400 Developer
Overview:
This role requires strong technical expertise in legacy systems development, particularly AS400/iSeries, along with a deep understanding of project ownership and end-to-end software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will be both technically and functionally proficient, capable of leading development efforts and translating complex requirements into high-quality deliverables.
Must-Have Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AS400/iSeries/iBM i development
- Strong experience in analyzing, designing, coding, and unit testing prior to deployment
- Proficiency in DB2 and SQL/SEQUEL
- Programming expertise in RPG III, RPG IV, and RPG Free Format
- Experience with COBOL and CBLLE
- Familiarity with Synon/Cool 2E for business logic development and conversion to RPG (preferred but not required)
- ILE programming using RPG and COBOL
- Command Language programming (CLP/CLLE)
- Experience with Aldon or similar change management tools
- Deep understanding of SDLC methodologies and best practices
- Proven experience acting as a project owner or technical lead, from requirements gathering through delivery
Bonus Skills:
- Experience in the healthcare or claims processing industry
- Hands-on work with Synon/Cool 2E
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical efforts and serve as the primary point of contact from project initiation through completion
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into actionable technical designs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver high-quality solutions
- Support regulatory and compliance-driven development initiatives from multiple business units
- Ensure technical and functional alignment across the development lifecycle
- Maintain and enhance legacy systems while ensuring scalability and maintainability
