Senior Data Engineer - HYBRID in Glendale,CA Contract Role

Seeking a Senior Data Engineer to build and scale robust data pipelines, support platform reliability, and collaborate with engineers, architects, and product teams on critical data infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a cloud-first, data-driven environment and enjoys solving complex engineering challenges.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, building scalable pipelines in production environments
• Proficient in Python, Java, or Scala
• Strong command of SQL and experience analyzing complex datasets
• Production experience with Spark, Airflow, and Databricks
• Solid understanding of AWS (or other cloud platforms) and infrastructure as code
• Familiarity with data modeling, data warehousing, and OLTP vs. OLAP systems
• Background in distributed data processing, data services engineering, or large-scale data modeling
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with Snowflake
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Delta Lake, or GXL

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain large-scale data pipelines using Airflow, Spark, Databricks, and Delta Lake
• Develop tools and services for data discovery, lineage, governance, and privacy
• Ensure pipeline reliability, data quality, and compliance with SLAs across engineering, analytics, and operations teams
• Drive platform improvements by working closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams
• Participate in Agile/Scrum practices and maintain clear, detailed documentation to support governance efforts

• Strong documentation practices aligned with data governance standards

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
