Data Engineer (DBT / Data Warehousing Focus)
Overview
Seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to support a high-visibility retail analytics initiative. This is a project-focused role responsible for building, modifying, and optimizing production-grade data pipelines within an existing DBT-driven environment.
The ideal candidate brings deep SQL expertise, strong DBT experience in production, and solid data warehousing architecture knowledge (including medallion architecture). This is a highly execution-focused role requiring strong technical depth.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Advanced SQL expertise (critical requirement)
- Deep experience with CTEs, window functions, complex joins, and performance optimization
- 2-3+ years of DBT experience in production environments
- Strong experience in data warehousing, data modeling, and data architecture
- Experience working with medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold layers)
- Experience building, modifying, and maintaining production data pipelines
- Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse platforms
- Cloud environment experience
- Python (supporting skill SQL is primary)
- Experience using development tools such as VS Code
- Exposure to AI/LLMs and use of AI-assisted development (hands-on depth not required)
Strong Differentiators
- Experience with Dagster (scheduling/orchestration)
- Tableau or experience supporting data analysts and analytics use cases
- Retail analytics domain experience
