Location: Madison, WI (Hybrid / Onsite / Remote options may be available)
Type: Contract, Contract-to-Hire
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Certified Project Managers to lead and support technical and IT-focused initiatives. This role will be responsible for driving projects from initiation through delivery, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful execution aligned with business and technical objectives.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in project management, best practices, technical fluency, and the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple IT-related projects with varying complexity
- Own the full project lifecycle, including planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, and status reports
- Facilitate project meetings and coordinate efforts across cross-functional teams
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to define scope, requirements, and success criteria
- Identify, track, and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies
- Manage scope, timelines, and budgets to ensure projects are delivered on time and within expectations
- Provide clear, consistent communication on project status, risks, and deliverables
- Escalate issues as needed and proactively recommend solutions
- Support documentation, change management activities, and handoff to operational teams
Required Qualifications
- Active Project Management certification (PMP preferred; CAPM or equivalent considered)
- 3+ years of experience managing technical, IT, or systems-related projects
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid)
- Experience working with cross-functional technical teams
- Proficiency with common project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and stakeholder management abilities
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience with application implementations, system integrations, or technology upgrades
- Background in enterprise or regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, finance, utilities, manufacturing, SaaS)
- Vendor or third-party management experience
- Familiarity with SDLC and technical delivery processes
- Experience in client-facing or customer-facing project environments
