Job Title: Radio Systems Technician
Location: Green Bay/ Tomahawk/ Black River Falls, Wisconsin (Travel Statewide)
Type: Contract - Open Ended
Duration: Long Term, Open Ended, Extensions Yearly
Work Arrangement: Onsite - candidates must be current Wisconsin residents
Position Overview
The position supports radio communications for fire suppression, prescribed burning, special events, administrative operations, and public safety. The technician will work closely with a team of specialists responsible for maintaining a network of approximately 150 repeaters across 120 radio sites and supporting around 2,000 handheld and mobile radios.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on VHF radio systems across multiple locations
- Install and troubleshoot vehicle and office electronics
- Support statewide radio infrastructure and assist with backbone maintenance
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure reliable communication systems
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience with conventional VHF radio system operability
- 2+ years of technical competency with electronic equipment
- 2+ years of experience with vehicle and office electronics installation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency with radio test equipment (e.g., service monitors, antenna analyzers)
- Experience with radio programming and cabling/network-attached equipment
- Strong troubleshooting skills for radio equipment
**This role involves extensive day-to-day travel across the state to perform maintenance and repairs on radio systems. Occasional overnight travel may be required. The technician will serve as a statewide resource supporting various operational needs.
