Pittsburgh law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to support attorneys in a fast-paced and dynamic legal environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary, particularly in litigation. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with excellent organizational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, format, proofread, and finalize legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and reports.
  • Prepare and file legal documents such as Appearances, Answers, and pretrial/dispositive motions in both state and federal courts.
  • Handle electronic court filings (e-filing) across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
  • Open and organize new case files, including conflict checks and updating litigation profiles.
  • Maintain both electronic and hard copy case files, discovery materials, and client documents.
  • Manage attorney calendars, coordinate meetings, schedule travel, and prepare expense reports.
  • Track and calendar deadlines, trial dates, hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and inspections.
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness materials, and creating trial binders.
  • Review and edit prebills in accordance with client billing guidelines.
  • Enter attorney's time, manage billing support tasks, and process vendor invoices.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel.
  • Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Provide support for special projects and firm-wide initiatives as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or similar role in a law firm setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Word.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, litigation procedures, and e-filing systems.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
