Requirements:
Clearance: Must possess an active Interim Secret Clearance at minimum and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance.
Location:
- Based out of San Diego, working in office when in SD
- Must be willing and able to travel to Hawaii and internationally (Japan & Guam) for 2-3 weeks at a time, up to 50% annually after their initial training period.
- Must possess a valid passport.
Role Overview:
In this position, you will play a crucial role supporting the integration and test of networked communication systems. These consultants will be traveling to Navy bases to teach sailors how to install, connect, troubleshoot, and support the communication devices.
Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site technical support for the operation of podded communication systems
- Provide technical liaison to supported military units/elements
- Develop and maintain technical documentation which includes test plans and procedures
- Develop configurations to support tests and prototypes of developing systems
- Develop troubleshooting procedures and work-around documentation
- Conduct systems and sub-systems testing
- Review and provide feedback on system specifications, development, test, and network documents
- Install and configure Windows/Linux servers
- Set up and maintain DNS/Exchange/Active Directory
- Maintain virtual environments
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain network gear to include switches, servers, firewalls, etc. and troubleshoot network related problems
Required Skills
- 4+ years of experience with systems testing, networking, or other IT related fields
- Tactical Data Link familiarity (e.g. CDL, TTNT, L-16 (Link 16), SADL, etc.) required.
- Hands-on experience installing, testing, and troubleshooting RF and tactical communications equipment (antennas, cabling, radios, modems, encryption devices).
- Live field testing, experience with military communication systems required.
- Working knowledge on network security devices (e.g. firewall, NGFW, IPS, IDS)
- Working knowledge on event management systems.
- Experience with Department of Defense (DoD) computer and radio systems
- Working knowledge of routing, switching, protocols, VLANs, IP subnetting, LAN, WAN, etc
- Must possess high proficiency in Linux and Windows
- Must have a high-level understanding of automation and implementation
Field Environment Expectations:
Ability to work in field environments, including shipyards, airfields, and military installations.
Ability to lift and install equipment (up to ~40 lbs), rack/stack hardware, and work around RF systems.
