Position Summary
We are partnering with a long-time client of ours in the Burlingame area in search of a Property Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate has strong technical accounting skills, experience with property management/affordable housing, and the ability to collaborate across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Reconcile bank accounts, track cash balances, and support loan draw processes with lenders
- Track budgets, project costs, and contracts; ensure accurate reporting against project budgets and forecasts
- Monitor and report on construction costs, WIP, and capitalized expenditures
- Prepare financial reporting packages for management, lenders, and investors
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, LIHTC, and internal accounting policies
- Support internal and external audits, prepare audit schedules, and respond to auditor inquiries
- Collaborate with development, construction, asset management, and property operations teams to align financial reporting with project progress
- Maintain and improve accounting systems, workflows, and controls to increase efficiency and accuracy
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of GL accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling)
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organized
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner with non-accounting stakeholders
- Self-starter who can manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $90k-110k
