Understand the business requirements - identify the stakeholders, helping to analyze the requirements, and extracting those to architectural significance in the specialization fields of Mainframe technologies such as COBOL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, JCL, MQ Series etc. Formulate the design - create a solution structure meeting various requirements, goals, and solution constraints. Evaluate and define the design patterns aligned with the Mainframe technologies meeting the industry standards. Communicate the architecture and design to the team and stakeholders - including presenting various views of the system like security view, logical view, and deployment view. Estimate total effort required for COBOL, DB2, CICS, VSAM, JCL programs and define the project schedule and key milestones. Coding, Unit testing and Implement Mainframe Technologies - JCL, COBOL, DB2, VSAM, CICS. Analyze existing system, explore new technologies, and integrate with existing application. Assist Qualitative Test Engineer, Performance Test Engineer -with code/architecture related queries. Modernize application which includes understanding the legacy system and building process flow diagrams resulting in modernized architecture (Spring Boot, Cloud and Restful Microservices). Record and track all defects identified during the testing phase and cycle back with the core development team for any fix / fine tuning. Provide support for User Acceptance Testing and Deployment. Participate in design reviews and code walk through and provide valuable suggestions to improve the code standards or stop the defects spill over into production.
