Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to manage and process the organization's payroll functions. This role ensures employees are paid accurately and on time, in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will be skilled in payroll processing, recordkeeping, and customer service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process biweekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for employees

  • Verify and input employee data such as hours worked, leave accruals, deductions, and bonuses

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and reports, including wage, tax, and benefits data

  • Prepare and distribute W-2s, 1099s, and other year-end tax documents

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and timekeeping issues

  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee data and benefits integration

  • Assist with payroll audits and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Stay up to date on changes in tax laws, wage regulations, and payroll best practices

  • Support the implementation of new payroll software or system enhancements


Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 2+ years of experience in payroll processing or a related role

  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, etc.)

  • Solid understanding of payroll and tax regulations, including FLSA, FICA, and garnishments

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications

  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
