Job Summary
The B2B Collections Specialist is responsible for managing and collecting outstanding accounts receivable balances from business clients. This role ensures timely payments while maintaining strong customer relationships and adhering to internal credit policies. The ideal candidate has strong negotiation skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience in high-volume B2B collections.
Key Responsibilities
Contact business clients via phone, email, and written communication to collect past-due balances.
Review aging reports and prioritize accounts based on delinquency, risk, and value.
Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, billing disputes, and short payments.
Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, and Billing departments to resolve account issues and ensure accurate invoicing.
Maintain detailed notes on collection activity in the company's ERP or CRM system.
Recommend accounts for credit hold, write-off, or third-party collections as appropriate.
Assist with monthly AR reporting and cash flow forecasting.
Ensure compliance with company credit policies and legal regulations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in B2B collections or accounts receivable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) preferred.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of credit and collections best practices and relevant laws (e.g., FCRA, FDCPA).
Experience with high-volume account portfolios.
Familiarity with international collections (if applicable).
