Position Summary:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees in compliance with company policies, federal and state regulations, and tax requirements. This role involves maintaining payroll records, resolving discrepancies, managing employee inquiries, and ensuring payroll data integrity across systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for hourly, salaried, and commissioned employees.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.

  • Maintain and update payroll records including new hires, terminations, salary changes, and deductions.

  • Audit timesheets, work hours, PTO, and employee classifications to ensure accuracy.

  • Calculate and process bonuses, commissions, retroactive pay, and special payroll runs as needed.

  • Handle payroll tax reporting and filings, including W-2s, W-4s, and other required documentation.

  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on benefits deductions, retirement contributions, and leave of absence pay.

  • Respond to employee questions and resolve issues related to payroll discrepancies or adjustments.

  • Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive employee payroll data.

  • Assist with audits, year-end processes, and system upgrades or implementations.


Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 4+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state environment.

  • Experience with payroll software; ADP WFN is strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of payroll principles, tax regulations, and labor law compliance.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
