We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Specialist to process employee payroll accurately and efficiently. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and supporting employee inquiries related to compensation and deductions. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and familiar with payroll software systems.
This is a part-time, contract position.
Key Responsibilities:
Process biweekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for salaried and hourly employees in a timely and accurate manner
Verify employee timecards, calculate wages, and process bonuses, commissions, and deductions
Maintain accurate payroll records including new hires, terminations, pay changes, tax forms, and direct deposit information
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and reporting requirements
Prepare and file payroll tax reports (e.g., 941, 940, W-2s, 1099s)
Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation data and sensitive information
Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure alignment of payroll and benefits
Support audits and generate reports as needed for finance, compliance, or management
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of experience in payroll processing
Knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and tax reporting requirements
Proficiency in payroll software (Paylocity)
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills:
Experience with multi-state payroll
Familiarity with benefits administration, garnishments, and payroll journal entries
- Experience with Paylocity Payroll System required.
