Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day accounting operations for our projects. This role plays a key part in financial planning, cost control, project accounting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, including analysis, job cost tracking, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all accounting functions for multiple construction projects, including job cost accounting and financial reporting.
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Oversee and reconcile general ledger accounts, project budgets, and job cost reports.
Monitor and analyze construction project costs, budgets, commitments, and change orders.
Conduct WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting and analysis, including over/under billing reconciliations.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, subcontractor payments, and lien waivers.
Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Collaborate with project managers and estimators to forecast project profitability and cash flow.
Support external audits and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a construction or project-based environment.
Proficient in accounting software
Strong understanding of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition.
Familiarity with AIA billing, subcontractor compliance, and construction lien laws.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of ERP and project management systems.
Strong Excel skills and data analysis capabilities.
Proven leadership and team development experience.
