Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to provide strategic financial leadership and oversight during a transitional period. This role is responsible for managing all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow management, regulatory compliance, and audit coordination for a senior living and rehabilitation organization. The ideal candidate will bring strong healthcare finance experience, particularly in long-term care, post-acute rehabilitation, or senior housing environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, billing, payroll, purchasing, and financial reporting.
Provide leadership and direction to the finance team, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Develop, monitor, and manage operating and capital budgets across multiple service lines (e.g., skilled nursing, assisted living, rehabilitation).
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and healthcare industry standards.
Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
Maintain compliance with Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement rules, cost reporting requirements, and other federal/state financial regulations.
Manage relationships with auditors, banks, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
Ensure proper internal controls are in place and functioning effectively.
Support executive team in financial forecasting, strategic planning, and decision-making.
Lead or support finance-related process improvements and systems transitions as needed during the interim period.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's degree or CPA preferred).
8+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 3 years in senior living, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation healthcare settings.
Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement, third-party billing, and long-term care regulatory frameworks.
Experience with accounting and EHR systems used in industry.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and implement financial best practices in a healthcare environment.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to quickly adapt to a fast-paced, mission-driven setting during a period of organizational transition.
Preferred Skills:
Experience managing finance in both for-profit and nonprofit care environments.
