The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's accounting operations through accurate financial reporting, reconciliation, and analysis. This role involves managing general ledger activities, preparing journal entries, assisting with month-end and year-end close, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and adept at working with cross-functional teams to support the company's financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.

  • Perform account reconciliations, including bank statements, balance sheets, and subsidiary ledgers.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes and financial statement preparation.

  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Support accounts payable and receivable functions, including invoicing, payment processing, and collections.

  • Analyze financial data and variances, providing insights and recommendations to management.

  • Assist with audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures.

  • Utilize accounting software and tools such as Excel, ERP systems, and reporting platforms to streamline processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or progress toward CPA preferred).

  • 1-3 years of accounting experience (internships or entry-level roles acceptable for junior positions).

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and standard accounting principles.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative finance team.
