About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Mortgage Loan Processor to join our client on a temporary basis. This role is responsible for managing the loan file from application through closing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and a smooth borrower experience. The ideal candidate is proactive, customer-focused, and skilled at working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Review loan applications for completeness and accuracy; verify all required documentation is collected and compliant with company, state, and federal lending guidelines.
Process and validate borrower information including income, assets, credit reports, employment, and property details.
Order and track third-party documentation such as appraisals, title work, VOEs, homeowners insurance, and flood certifications.
Maintain clear and timely communication with loan officers, underwriters, borrowers, and other stakeholders throughout the loan process.
Prepare files for underwriting review, resolve conditions, and ensure all stipulations are met prior to closing.
Monitor pipeline to ensure loans progress efficiently and meet expected closing dates.
Ensure all files adhere to internal policies, investor requirements (FHA, VA, USDA, FNMA, FHLMC), and regulatory compliance standards.
Update loan system notes and maintain accurate records for audit and reporting purposes.
Identify potential issues and proactively work to resolve delays or discrepancies.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience as a Mortgage Loan Processor or in a mortgage operations role.
Strong understanding of residential mortgage guidelines, loan products, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency with LOS systems (e.g., Encompass, Calyx, Mortgagebot) and general computer applications.
Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
Ability to analyze financial documents with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple files simultaneously.
Customer service-oriented mindset with professionalism in handling sensitive financial information.
