Required Skills:

3+ years of professional experience to include application support , data analysis, and/or data operations.

Prior experience working raw data (excel, flat files, etc) and manipulating that data into a production environment

Strong LINUX Shell Scripting Skills (Bash or Korn scripting) skills dealing manipulation of files and automation processes utilizing: crontab, awk, sed, cut, paste, variations of date, if/then/else, case/esac, while loops, for loops, functions, use of variables over hard coding, sourcing,…..),

Basic understanding with ETL processes , data manipulation and data movement

Excellent Communication Skills

Desire to learn new technologies

Desired Skills:

Basic familiarity with a programming language , ideally Java but will also consider C, C++, C#, Python, etc

Basic familiarity with Cloud (Azure, AWS), strong preference for Azure Cloud Computing Knowledge

Basic familiarity with Linux Administration (CentOS) would be helpful

Day to Day Responsibilities:

Beacon Hill Technologies is seeking a Data Operations Engineer for a contract to hire opportunity with one of our large clients. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of professional experience with Linux Shell Scripting (Bash or Korn) and have a passion for Data. Any experience with ETL processes via scripting or programming is ideal, but a general understanding is required even from an academic or internship perspective. Candidate should have experience with data from a variety of formats (database, flat file, excel, etc) and have experience manipulating that data and push to production systems. You'll be responsible for writing automation using Linux Shell Scripting for ETL processes that are developed in house at our client. We are seeking candidates who are driven, self-motivated, and willing to learn new technologies. In this role, you'll have an opportunity to work with and be trained on cutting edge Big Data Platforms. Prior experience with DevOps and Azure Cloud technologies would be a strong plus as our client is amidst their cloud transformation journey although this experience is not required.
