We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant. The ideal candidate brings expertise in accounting and financial reporting within a professional services or consulting environment, along with proficiency in Deltek. This role supports the internal business services function and requires full-time, in-person work at the organization's main office. The role offers a stable environment with strong potential for growth and long-term advancement within a collaborative accounting team.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in any field; a background in accounting or business is helpful.

  • Ability to work primarily onsite several days per week.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in accounting, project budget management, or overseeing departmental finances for a mid-sized organization. Experience in professional services or consulting environments is preferred. Familiarity with Federal Accounting Rules (FAR) and support of project-based work is a plus.

  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines.

  • Proficiency in professional services accounting systems, along with Adobe PDF, Word, and Excel. Experience with additional platforms or cloud-based productivity suites is beneficial.

  • Strong discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive or confidential matters, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, strong follow-through, and a sense of urgency to ensure timely completion of tasks.

  • Coachability, openness to feedback, and the ability to work proactively, stay organized, adapt to change, and support teammates when needed.
