Position
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Finance and Administration to lead the financial and operational success of our organization. This pivotal role will oversee the organization's financial health, ensure compliance with all regulations, and implement systems that strengthen efficiency and impact.
The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with exceptional financial expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to think strategically while managing day-to-day operations. They will collaborate closely with senior leadership and department heads to optimize resources, support organizational growth, and drive long-term sustainability.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
Develop and oversee annual budgets in partnership with executives, school leaders, and the finance team.
Provide financial training and ensure all staff adhere to established budgets.
Manage daily financial operations, including accounting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and cash flow.
Oversee timely and accurate payments, monthly close processes, and vendor management.
Partner with leadership to align financial strategies with organizational priorities.
Reporting & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and authorizer reporting requirements.
Produce timely and accurate financial reports with analysis and recommendations for decision-making.
Lead audit preparation, coordination, and communication with auditors.
Monitor financial performance, maintain records, and keep leadership informed of the organization's financial status.
Team & Operations
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance team.
Collaborate with the COO and department leaders to ensure strong cross-department communication.
Foster a collaborative, results-oriented culture.
Support payroll operations and provide additional support to operational departments when needed.
Candidate Profile
Deep commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
Strong financial acumen with expertise in GAAP and reporting standards.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Skilled in analyzing financial data and translating it into actionable insights.
Proficient with financial systems and adaptable to new technologies.
Experience in education or charter schools is strongly preferred.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field (Master's preferred).
5+ years of progressive financial management experience, ideally in education or non-profit settings.
