Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Oakland, CA (Hybrid/Remote Options Available)
We're seeking a highly analytical and experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our dynamic and growing team. We are a boutique CFO and accounting practice based in Oakland, CA, serving over 40 small businesses-many of which are in the architecture and engineering sectors.
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and is passionate about helping small businesses succeed through strategic financial guidance.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, billing, and collections functions.
- Prepare and review financial statements, forecasts, and regulatory reports to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Develop and implement internal controls and accounting policies to support financial health and operational efficiency.
- Perform hands-on accounting tasks including invoicing, AP/AR, payroll processing, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Analyze accounting records and provide insights to support business decision-making.
- Respond to tax and accounting-related inquiries with professionalism and accuracy.
- Build tools in Excel for financial forecasting and project management.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification (required).
- 10+ years of experience in public accounting or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop and Online) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
