This role is ideal for someone who has operated at a high level but is still comfortable getting into the details. The Controller will play a key role in strengthening financial operations, with an immediate focus on capital improvement projects (CIP), fixed assets, and audit readiness.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"174\" data-end=\"564\">***While this role is remote, candidates must have California government agency experience for consideration***<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"592\"><strong data-start=\"566\" data-end=\"590\">Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"593\" data-end=\"1283\">\n<li data-section-id=\"42l7n7\" data-start=\"593\" data-end=\"704\">Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1fp1i3n\" data-start=\"705\" data-end=\"790\">Review and reconcile capital improvement projects (CIP) and fixed asset schedules<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"5cx4i1\" data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"874\">Clean up and streamline construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting and reporting<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"12mvk8i\" data-start=\"875\" data-end=\"968\">Support audit preparation, including workpapers, schedules, and addressing audit findings<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1vbuiwi\" data-start=\"969\" data-end=\"1041\">Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards (GAAP\/GASB)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"u7p1wp\" data-start=\"1042\" data-end=\"1132\">Partner with internal departments on project tracking, budgets, and financial analysis<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"avwcdo\" data-start=\"1133\" data-end=\"1203\">Assist with ERP-related initiatives (Workday experience is a plus)<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1osy6yr\" data-start=\"1204\" data-end=\"1283\">Evaluate and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1305\"><strong data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1303\">Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1306\" data-end=\"1795\">\n<li data-section-id=\"9w0om0\" data-start=\"1306\" data-end=\"1400\">7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong municipal\/government background<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"t0l9jg\" data-start=\"1401\" data-end=\"1466\">Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferred<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1erxiz8\" data-start=\"1467\" data-end=\"1534\">Hands-on experience with CIP, fixed assets, and fund accounting<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"b44vte\" data-start=\"1535\" data-end=\"1612\">Experience working in environments with $100M+ budgets strongly preferred<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"9l2422\" data-start=\"1613\" data-end=\"1680\">Strong understanding of audit processes and financial reporting<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"q277gf\" data-start=\"1681\" data-end=\"1727\">ERP experience required;
