We’re looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting accounting operations related to payroll, compliance, and reporting. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of payroll and general accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process payroll on a weekly/biweekly basis for multi-state employees
- Ensure accuracy of wages, deductions, bonuses, and commissions
- Reconcile payroll accounts, including wages payable, taxes, and benefits
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries to the general ledger
- Assist with month-end and year-end close related to payroll
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Coordinate with HR on employee changes (new hires, terminations, benefits)
- Support payroll audits and respond to internal/external inquiries
- Prepare payroll-related reports for management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5+ years of payroll and/or accounting experience
- Experience with payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, Workday, etc.)
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and compliance
- Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables a plus)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
