We have an exciting opportunity for a growing client in Elgin who is looking for a Buyer who supports the Materials Manager by managing purchase orders, monitoring inventory, and ensuring timely material supply for production. This role involves working with suppliers, internal teams, and global partners to maintain accurate data, resolve supply issues, and meet customer demands while adhering to quality standards. This is a contract role, fully onsite, with the hours of 8-5pm Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and update purchase orders for external suppliers.
- Review MRP daily and adjust orders as needed.
- Monitor consignment stocks and manage inventory goals.
- Negotiate short-term changes with suppliers and expedite orders.
- Maintain SAP Information Records and review quarterly.
- Process supplier complaints, returns, and replacement orders.
- Communicate order status with Sales and Customer Service teams.
- Participate in global team meetings and achieve assigned KPIs.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of related experience in supply chain or purchasing. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- APICS or similar certification preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills for problem-solving.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and business regulations.
- Proficiency in business math concepts
- Ability to work in a moderate-noise manufacturing environment.
