Top 3 Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering & 2+ years of related experience.
- Ability to Obtain/ Maintain a SECRET Clearance.
- Experience in Hardware Evaluation: Proven background in conducting hardware evaluations in a lab and performing environmental qualification testing (temperature, humidity, shock, vibration, pressure, EMI/EMC, etc.).
Essential Skills:
- Test Planning & Execution: Ability to create detailed test plans, procedures, and reports to ensure alignment with system requirements.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in reading schematics, using service manuals, following test procedures, and troubleshooting.
- Verification and Validation (V&V) Expertise: Experience in planning, conducting, and documenting V&V testing processes.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Experience working within multidisciplinary design and development teams.
- Electronic Test Equipment Proficiency: Skilled in using electronic test and measurement equipment, including digital multi-meters, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
Preferred Skills:
- Environmental Qualification Testing: Experience with MIL-STD-810, DO-160, or similar industry testing standards.
- Aerospace & Defense Experience: Background in the aerospace and defense industry.
- System Integration & HWIL Testing: Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testing.
- Certification Testing: Experience with certification testing for organizations like the FAA, NASA, or DoD.
- Willingness to Travel: Travel between 10-40% may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test Execution: Plan, conduct, and document testing on hardware, components, and systems in labs, hangars, or in-flight to ensure performance meets requirements.
- Collaboration: Work with development teams to plan tests and troubleshoot any issues discovered during testing.
- Test Reporting: Author detailed test reports, summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Environmental Testing: Conduct environmental qualification tests to verify hardware performance under various conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity, pressure).
- Field Testing: Lead or participate in offsite testing at designated test locations when necessary.
- Presentation & Communication: Generate presentations and provide updates in internal and external meetings.
Day-to-Day Projects:
As a Test Engineer, your role will focus on evaluating and testing hardware to ensure mission systems meet design, functionality, and environmental performance standards.
Summary: You will perform hardware evaluation, environmental testing, and V&V testing for mission systems. Your work will support product development from initial testing stages through final verification before deployment, ensuring that systems meet both internal and external standards.
Key Day-to-Day Activities:
- Test Planning & Execution: Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and reports for hardware and systems in accordance with specifications.
- Environmental Testing: Perform tests such as temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, pressure, and EMI/EMC qualification tests on hardware.
- Collaboration: Work with systems and development engineers to plan, execute, and troubleshoot tests, ensuring they meet product requirements.
- Test Reporting: Document test results and create reports, summarizing findings for internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Field Testing: Participate in offsite testing (labs, hangars, in-flight) and assist in risk reduction, validation, and acceptance testing.
- Presentations & Meetings: Prepare and present test findings in program briefs or meetings with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
