Senior Accountant

Our client, a well-established and growing company in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance and accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys owning key accounting functions, partnering with leadership, and contributing to process improvements in a collaborative environment. As the Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in the month-end close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. Responsibilities As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Leading month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Analyzing general ledger activity and investigating account variances
- Preparing financial statements and supporting schedules for internal and external reporting purposes
- Managing balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures
- Assisting with annual audits and coordinating requests from external auditors
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
- Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls
- Mentoring and supporting junior accounting staff as needed
- Assisting with special projects, financial analyses, and ad hoc reporting requests from leadership
Qualifications To be considered for this position, candidates should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookup functions, and data analysis tools
- Experience working with ERP and accounting software systems
- CPA designation or CPA candidacy preferred
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
