Position Summary:
The Manager, Technical Accounting and SEC Reporting is responsible for overseeing complex accounting matters, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal policies. This role will lead technical accounting research, manage external reporting processes, and provide guidance on accounting implications for business transactions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in public company reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Accounting:
- Research and interpret U.S. GAAP and SEC guidance for complex transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, stock-based compensation, business combinations).
- Prepare technical accounting memos and present findings to senior management and auditors.
- Monitor new accounting standards and assess their impact on the company’s financial statements.
SEC Reporting:
- Lead preparation and review of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and proxy statements.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with SEC and SOX requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors and internal stakeholders during quarterly and annual reporting cycles.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Support SOX compliance efforts related to financial reporting.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and Investor Relations teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Provide accounting guidance for strategic initiatives, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA designation strongly preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big 4 or national firm) and/or SEC reporting for a public company.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and technical accounting concepts.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and SEC reporting software (e.g., Workiva).
- Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
