Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support weekly payroll processing and reporting activities. This role requires accuracy, discretion, and strong collaboration within a team environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, accountable, and eager to take ownership of key payroll functions while maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:

Verify hours worked, attendance records, and pay adjustments

Process payroll transactions and ensure accurate employee earnings, deductions, and taxes

Resolve discrepancies related to timekeeping, wages, or deductions

Prepare and distribute pay statements
-
Submit weekly payroll taxes at the federal and state levels

Process certified payrolls as required

Maintain payroll records, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and tax information

Generate utilization and internal reporting related to payroll activities

Prepare union benefit reports and facilitate related payments

Respond to unemployment claims and verification of employment requests
Qualifications and Skills:

High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, HR, or related field (preferred)

1-3 years of payroll experience preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level)

Experience with union payroll or certified payrolls is a plus

Extra Notes:

Looking for someone who is available to start early in the morning (around 7:00 AM).

Must be comfortable handling a high volume of invoices on a daily basis.

Should be confident working through a significant backlog and assisting with cleanup efforts.
