General Ledger Accountant (SAP Required)

Our client, a well-established organization in Chapel Hill, NC, is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to join their accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys owning the month-end close process, and has a strong background working within SAP. As the General Ledger Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, preparing financial analyses, reconciling accounts, and supporting accurate and timely financial reporting. Responsibilities As the General Ledger Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing and posting journal entries in SAP to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Performing monthly general ledger account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
- Supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Analyzing financial results and researching account variances
- Maintaining balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation
- Preparing financial reports and assisting with internal management reporting
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls
- Assisting with external audits and providing requested documentation
- Partnering with cross-functional departments to resolve accounting issues and improve processes
- Supporting special projects, system enhancements, and process improvement initiatives within SAP
Qualifications To be considered for this position, candidates should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of general ledger accounting experience
- Required experience working within SAP
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookup functions, and data analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization
