Cost Accountant

About the Opportunity

Beacon Hill is partnering with a growing chemical manufacturing company in Mercer County, NJ that is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its finance team. This position will play a critical role in analyzing manufacturing costs, inventory activity, product profitability, and operational performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of cost accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and analyze standard costs for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods
• Prepare and review inventory and manufacturing-related journal entries
• Perform inventory reconciliations and assist with cycle count and physical inventory processes
• Analyze manufacturing variances, including labor, material, and overhead costs
• Monitor product costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities
• Prepare cost and profitability reports for management
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
• Partner with operations, supply chain, and production teams to improve reporting and cost visibility
• Ensure accuracy of inventory valuation and compliance with company policies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Chemical, pharmaceutical, industrial manufacturing, or process manufacturing experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
• Experience supporting month-end close and financial reporting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
