Litigation law firm in Miami seeks a Legal Assistant/Support Staff to join their Miam office located in Blue Lagoon area of Miami.
- Three or more years working as a legal assistant and support staff in a law firm environment is preferred.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ability to coordinate hearings, depositions, mediations and meetings for an attorney as needed in the litigation process.
- Prepare documents for filing with appropriate jurisdictions, JAMS, Judicial Assistants, Hearing Officers, etc.
- Process all invoices for subpoenas, document requests, deposition transcripts, etc.
- Maintain electronic document(s) including but not limited to correspondence, pleadings, discovery, responsive documents, records, emails, etc. prepared and/or received.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel and vendors.
- Handle travel arrangements for attorneys.
- Ability to accept additional duties as assigned in support of the firm in general.
- Working knowledge of Florida Civil Litigation and Rules of Civil Procedure to effectively calendar deadlines for discovery, trial, etc.
- Maintain the daily calendar of each attorney including, but not limited to, scheduling appointments, meetings, hearings and depositions.
- Ability to accurately type with excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading, transcription and general clerical skills.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment, including personal computer, copier, multi-function printers, facsimile, and telephone.
- Strong knowledge of and ability to user software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and PDF.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with co-workers, paralegals and attorneys in a business environment.
- Flexible, solution-oriented approach with the ability to provide valuable alternatives as needed while working under pressure and handling multiple priorities from multiple sources.
