A reputable and fast-growing boutique-size law firm specializing in multiple practice areas is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant.
Job Summary
The firm is seeking an experienced, bilingual (English/Spanish) Real Estate Legal Assistant with 2-3 years of hands-on experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will be fluent in English and Spanish, possess a strong understanding of real estate legal processes, excellent organizational skills, and a proactive attitude, and enjoy working in a busy, multi-practice-area law firm. This role will support attorneys and other team members in all aspects of real estate transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and Analyze Contracts & Leases: Carefully review real estate contracts, leases, and related documents to identify key terms, deadlines, obligations, and potential issues or inconsistencies. Flag concerns and assist attorneys in preparing revisions or addendums.
- Prepare Legal Documents: Draft and revise closing documents, purchase and sale agreements, lease agreements, title affidavits, and escrow instructions under attorney supervision.
- Transaction Coordination: Track important dates such as contingency periods, inspection deadlines, and closing schedules. Communicate with clients, realtors, title agents, and lenders to keep all parties informed and aligned.
- Title and Due Diligence Support: Order and review title commitments, lien and permit searches and surveys, summarize findings, and coordinate resolution of title issues or exceptions.
- Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients during real estate transactions.
- Post-Closing Follow-Up: Assist with post-closing tasks including document recording, file reconciliation, issuance of title policies, and distribution of final documents.
- Administrative Support: Maintain organized digital and physical files, update case management systems, schedule meetings and closings, and handle correspondence.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience as a legal assistant, with a strong focus on real estate law
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with title insurance, escrow procedures, and local/state real estate regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in both English and Spanish, if bilingual).
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask under deadlines
- Associate’s degree or paralegal certification preferred but not required
