Beacon Hill is a proud partner to a reputable Real Estate Firm in Evanston. We are currently hiring a Retail Property Accountant.
Responsibilities/Duties
The responsibilities of the Retail Property Accountant are, but are not limited to:
- Maintain general ledger and ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closings.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned retail properties.
- Review and process accounts payable/receivable related to property operations.
- Perform bank reconciliations and tenant account reconciliations.
- Prepare CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and annual tenant billings.
- Track lease terms, rent schedules, and escalate charges per lease agreements.
- Collaborate with property managers and leasing agents to review budgets and forecasts.
- Assist with external audits and coordinate with tax preparers.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or retail property management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or RealPage).
- Strong understanding of GAAP and lease accounting.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze large sets of data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
