A national law firm seeks a Family Law Paralegal for their Orlando office. The Paralegal will be expected to track and record their own billable time. Minimum of three years of experience, including reading and organizing financial documents, such as tax returns, bank statements, etc. Paralegal certificate preferred, not required.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Bill and enter own time daily
- Assist in drafting legal documents including, but not limited to, pleadings, petitions, motions, notices, discovery, third-party subpoenas, final judgments, financial affidavits, charging liens, responses, objections, answer, and correspondence to opposing counsel, experts, the court, third parties, mediators, etc.
- Input information into various file databases
- Review incoming and outgoing discovery documents and prepare summary
- Review incoming discovery for compliance
- Redact documents for compliance
- Stay on top of ever-changing rules and procedures
- Maintain and update client files, including but not limited to Production Control Logs (PCL) and pleadings indexes
- Assist with determining and calculating alimony
- Calculate Child Support Guidelines, including but not limited to retro, current, arrears, and step-down
- Prepare Equitable Distribution Worksheets
- Conduct legal research, analyze results, and prepare synopsis
- Caselaw research using Westlaw
- Research property documents using official court records and the property appraiser’s website
- Prepare various charts and summaries for any topic requested by attorney
- Review, organize and coordinate detailed and complex document productions and trial/hearing notebooks
- Interact with all parties, counsel, mediators, court reporters, process servers and respond to any corresponding inquires
- Schedule mediations, depositions, hearings, trials, misc. meetings, etc., coordinating same with various parties involved
- Calendaring deadlines and staying on top of same
- Coordinate deliveries of exhibits, binders, caselaw, etc. to the Courthouse using Business Express
- Research using SunBiz for client businesses, opposing party businesses, and registered agent/mailing address for subpoenas
- Research opposing party (and sometimes our client) on social media platforms
- Assist with client Firm invoices and client payments of same
- Review, edit, and submit attorney paperless proformas
- Schedule hearings using the Court’s ai calendar system, JACS, JAWS, etc.
- Assist attorneys in preparation for meetings, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials
- Prepare and e-file documents at the State level and follow up on all filings
- Review attorney inbox for important emails
- Draft response emails for attorney
- Research and pull relevant documents, proofread documents, and organize exhibits in preparation of a motion filing
- Ability to manage information through various firm databases, including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, i-Manage, OneDrive, DropBox, Family Law Software, DPA, and other platforms
- Assist client’s in setting up new accounts with the DOR
- Assist with vendor invoices, as needed
- Assist with potential new clients, as needed
- Occasionally enter attorney billing entries
- Other duties as assigned
