Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Manufacturing/Process Engineer to support modernization and expansion efforts at a large-scale medical device production facility. This role will focus on line transfers, modernization of existing equipment, and implementation of automation solutions to improve safety, efficiency, and overall production performance.
Location: Columbus, NE (Onsite)
Duration: 12 months (Contract w/Possiblity of Extension)
Key Responsibilities:
- Support manufacturing expansion and modernization initiatives at the Columbus facility.
- Lead line transfers and upgrades of existing manufacturing equipment.
- Design and develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and automation equipment.
- Author and maintain technical documentation, including equipment specifications, change requests (CRs), protocols, reports, and AFEs.
- Act as a technical interface with equipment suppliers, from specification through vendor selection and equipment implementation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on safety, efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Troubleshoot processes, equipment, and quality systems, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Collaborate across functions, participating in project teams and supporting individual project deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, or 3+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering.
- Experience in automation, equipment design, and validation (medical device industry experience preferred but not required).
- Strong ability to translate technical requirements into vendor-ready specifications.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex equipment and processes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and with external suppliers.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, customer focus, and results orientation.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Hands-on experience with packaging equipment, needle assembly, and form-fill machinery or other specialized manufacturing systems.
- Knowledge of regulated environments (FDA, ISO 13485, or similar standards).
- Proven ability to lead continuous improvement projects, including safety enhancements and cost reductions.
Additional Details:
- This is a fully onsite role in Columbus, NE.
- Focus areas include upgrading and replacing manufacturing machinery, designing automation solutions, and supporting supplier engagement for equipment builds and installations.
- Titles that may align with this role include Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Automation Engineer.
