Our client is seeking an experienced UI/UX Design Contractor to lead a comprehensive theme and visual redesign of our digital cybersecurity product, and to deliver final theme design in Figma format. This is a 2-3 month contract opportunity with potential for ongoing work as we continue to evolve our product offering.
This role is mostly remote with the occasional onsite meeting. Their office is located in Boston, MA.
This role will start off as 40 hours but hours may decrease to 25 as the project progresses. Must be available during regular business hours.
Project Scope
You will be responsible for refreshing the look and feel of our Material UI-based application, creating a more compelling and visually engaging user experience for a functional, workflow-driven cybersecurity platform focused on user productivity and task completion. This is not a complete restructuring but rather a strategic “facelift” that enhances visual hierarchy, contrast, and color implementation across both light and dark themes.
Key Responsibilities
- Redesign and enhance the existing Material UI theme within the confines of our established design system structure
- Develop improved light and dark theme variations with enhanced contrast and visual appeal
- Incorporate elements from our corporate brand palette while maintaining white-label flexibility
- Recommend/identify sensible UI elements that could inherit brand colors for customers who request it
- Collaborate closely with UX, UI Development, and Marketing teams through iterative design reviews
- Deliver final designs in Figma format for seamless integration with our existing workflow
Required Qualifications
- Material UI Expertise: You’re familiar designing for Material UI (MUI) frameworks, including possibilities and limitations of Material front-end and how theming is applied programmatically to UI elements
- Enterprise Software Design: You have experience designing for enterprise software applications
- Design Systems Experience: Youve worked with established design systems and component libraries
- Figma Proficiency: Advanced skills in Figma for design creation and collaboration with other UX team members
- Theme Design Experience: Portfolio demonstrating successful theme/skin design projects for functional applications
- Color Theory Knowledge: Understanding of color psychology, accessibility, and brand application
- WCAG compliance: Familiarity with how a theme supports AA standards for accessibility
Nice to Have
- Experience designing for, or familiarity with, the cybersecurity domain or security-focused enterprise applications
- Experience with brand integration in B2B software environments
- Previous experience interfacing with agile development teams
- Some proximity to Boston area and available for occasional in-person reviews and workshops at our Seaport office
