Corporate Legal Project Manager
Our client is seeking a legal operations/project manager in the corporate transactional space. Ideal candidate will work closely with legal teams and clients to ensure legal transactions are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget, improving client communication and cost predictability.
Responsibilities
- Planning and scoping: Define the matter’s objectives, scope, and key deliverables. Create a comprehensive project roadmap, including timelines, milestones, and assigned responsibilities.
- Budgeting and cost control: Develop and track budgets for legal transactions, monitoring legal spend against the budget.
- Team coordination and management: Manage and coordinate the workflow of the legal team, including attorneys, paralegals, and support staff as well as coordinating with outside counsel, clients, and third-party vendors when needed.
- Document and process management: Oversee the organization and management of documents related to the transaction. Implement and manage matter-specific systems, such as deal rooms, to centralize information and facilitate collaboration.
- Communication and reporting: Act as a central point of contact for stakeholders, providing clear and timely updates on the project’s status. Prepare status reports and executive summaries for both attorneys and clients.
- Process improvement and evaluation: Conduct post-closing reviews to evaluate what went well and identify areas for improvement. Develop and implement best practices, forms, and templates to increase efficiency on future transactions.
Qualifications
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, and/or a J.D.
- Experience: Several years of experience in project management, legal operations, and/or practice in a transactional legal field is necessary. Experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department preferred.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or a specialized Certified Legal Project Manager (CLPM) designation is a plus.
