Electrical (Mechanical) Designer – Onsite
Beacon Hill is hiring for a Electrical (Mechanical) Designer to work Onsite in Lake Buena Vista FL! This role focuses on mechanical design and documentation, contributing to the development of innovative and production-ready design packages.
Key Responsibilities
- Create CAD layouts and detailed production drawings for mechanical systems and components.
- Draft and design in both 2D and 3D environments using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Collaborate with Engineering to support capital and expense projects.
- Participate in project design reviews and ensure documentation meets internal and industry standards.
- Research historical data, materials, systems, and vendors to develop project solutions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, legislation, and standards (e.g., California/Florida Ride Law).
- Review design packages with vendors and shops for conformance and successful execution.
- Archive and update as-built drawings and documentation in the electronic data management system (EDMS).
- Stay current with best practices, codes, and technologies related to mechanical design and manufacturing.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of mechanical design experience.
- Associate’s degree (AA) in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Strong mechanical design skills, including knowledge of manufacturing practices and processes.
- Experience with drawing creation and documentation workflows.
- Familiarity with PLC systems (Siemens and/or Rockwell preferred).
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn new software packages and adapt to company standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of Valencia College’s Mechanical Engineering program (nice to have)
- Experience in a theme park design environment.
- Reliability-centered maintenance experience.
- Eplan experience (training and/or certification).
- Awareness of industry standards such as ANSI, ASME, IEC, IEEE, ISO, MIL-STD, NEMA, OSHA, NFPA, SAE, UL.
Additional Information
- Significant time spent at CAD workstation.
- Work may include after-hours field documentation and attraction testing (e.g., climbing stairs/ladders, accessing confined spaces).
- Flexible schedule required: overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts.
