Beacon Hill is hiring! We have partnered with a nationally recognized university committed to academic excellence, innovation, and community impact. Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Research Administrator to join their team on a remote basis.
Position Summary
The Research Administrator will provide professional support in the administration of research proposals, contracts, and awards. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with university policies, sponsor guidelines, and federal regulations while assisting faculty and staff throughout the research lifecycle-from proposal submission to award management and closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise faculty and research staff on funding opportunities, proposal preparation, and submission requirements.
- Review and submit grant and contract proposals to external sponsors in compliance with university and sponsor regulations.
- Negotiate and process awards, subawards, amendments, and related agreements.
- Monitor budgets, expenditures, and reporting deadlines to ensure compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with effort reporting, cost-sharing documentation, and financial reconciliations.
- Serve as a liaison between faculty, central research administration, and external funding agencies.
- Provide training and guidance to faculty, staff, and students on research administration policies and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records in research administration systems and support audits as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, public administration, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in research administration, sponsored programs, grants management, or related area.
- Knowledge of federal regulations related to sponsored research (e.g., Uniform Guidance, NIH, NSF).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree or advanced coursework in research administration, public policy, or higher education administration.
- Certified Research Administrator (CRA) designation or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Experience working in a university or academic research environment.
