SUMMARY: Global law firm is seeking a Paralegal to support the trial team in all phases of litigation. The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years of complex litigation experience with an emphasis on large case management, trial preparation, document production, discovery and trial exhibits. The day to day duties includes drafting notices, summonses; administer and oversee document inspections at the request of counsel; research and analyze case law; Shepardize cases and cite check briefs; communicate with court personnel regarding the status of cases; electronically edit documents relating to litigation; proofread documents to be filed in court.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Prepare, organize, and file documents and correspondence with the court
* Conduct legal research
* Update and maintain docketing and filing as well as internal databases
* Prepare witness and other materials for case preparation
* Organize relevant documents for attorney review and case preparation
* Prepare for depositions, including the preparation of discovery requests; facilitate service of process and coordinating examinations before trial (EBT)
* Draft pleadings, motions, briefs
* Perform administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics, etc.)
* Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes
* Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
* Aid attorneys with interrogatories and other discovery requests
* Assist between trial teams and internal/external third parties; conducts investigations; engage in on-line legal research; develop pleadings; prepare motions and other pertinent legal documents/forms for review by assigned attorney; assist in discovery
* Accurately and consistently track and record all related billable and non-billable time;
* Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs and appendices
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience working with experts, including preparing materials and trial preparation
* Familiarity with medical records and preparing related chronologies
* Previous experience attending trial(s)
* Investigative mind and strong factual research skills
* Working knowledge of legal database software
* Experience in preparing legal reports
* Excellent communication and time management skills
* Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Relativity and Word
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Certification or associate’s degree in paralegal studies (bachelor’s degree is preferred)
* Minimum of 5 – 8 years’ experience in a paralegal role
