Compensation: $85,000-$95,000 (based on experience)

Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a rapidly growing construction company in the Haddonfield, NJ area to hire a Senior Cost Accountant. This role plays a key part in project costing, margin analysis, and financial visibility as the company continues to scale. The ideal candidate will have strong construction or project‑based accounting experience and enjoy partnering closely with operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and analyze job cost accounting for active construction projects
• Track and analyze labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
• Prepare and maintain job cost reports; analyze budget vs. actuals
• Perform cost variance analysis and identify trends impacting project margins
• Support WIP reporting and cost‑to‑complete updates in partnership with project managers
• Assist with month‑end close, including cost‑related accruals and reconciliations
• Reconcile job cost subledgers to the general ledger
• Support change order tracking and ensure costs are properly captured
• Prepare cost and margin analysis for management and leadership review
• Partner cross‑functionally with operations, project managers, and accounting leadership
• Assist with audit requests and documentation related to cost accounting

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably within construction or project‑based environments
• Strong understanding of job costing, project budgets, and margin analysis
• Experience with WIP accounting and percentage‑of‑completion preferred
• Proficiency in Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs; advanced analysis a plus)
• Experience working within a construction ERP or accounting system (Vista, Sage, Procore, or similar preferred)
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work onsite in Haddonfield, NJ
