Beacon Hill’s client has an immediate opening for an experienced Workers’ Compensation Paralegal to join its Delaware Workers’ Compensation group. The candidate will work a hybrid schedule in their New Castle, DE office. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of workers’ compensation laws and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in managing a high-volume caseload of workers’ compensation cases from inception to resolution.
- Obtain medical records (via subpoenas), draft medical chronologies, and work with experts.
- Draft legal documents, including petitions, motions, discovery requests, medical summaries, etc.
- File legal documents with state workers’ compensation boards or courts in accordance with local rules.
- Organize and maintain client files, ensuring all records are up to date and properly stored.
- Review and summarize medical records, and other case documentation.
- Provide litigation support, as needed.
- Will be responsible for meeting a daily time billing requirement.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of Paralegal experience, preferably in workers’ compensation.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved organization preferred.
- Should have prior experience with time entries and billing experience to meet a daily billable hour requirement.
- Familiarity with workers’ compensation concepts, terminology, and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet all deadlines and prioritize workload.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams of attorneys, legal staff, court staff, clients, expert witnesses, etc.
- Ability to perform legal research, experience with Lexis a plus.
- Familiarity with reviewing and obtaining medical records, including follow up, following deadlines, organization of medical records, preparing medical index, and discovery production process.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required.
- Ability to work well independently and collaborate effectively in a team setting.
